Rock-n-Roll

Hey everybody, how are you doing?  I have finally recovered from an infection that put me down for about a week.  

I am trying to gather my supplies and my thoughts for our retreat we will be attending this coming weekend.  We always have some serious fun...sorry for those of you that are not going this time....you know who you are. You will certainly be missed and who will help me clean up my messes in the kitchen floor.  Maybe I will be banned again. 

Tonight I wanted to show you the canvas that I made for my son Brad.  He loves loud music and his many guitars.  

 

I used many non traditional scrapbooking items for this project. I went into my local Westlake Hardware store and got as many cool things as I could find.  Wire, washers, duct tape, clips and eye hooks just to name a few.  I wanted this to take on an industrial and urban feel.  Quite fitting for the rocker theme.

I also used 4 different canvases that I attached together from the back.  Be careful, the wood on canvases is very soft and you can do some damage.  Personal experience talking....

I also included some of his memorabilia from concerts that he had attended.  The drum stick was from the Silvertide drummer and somebody autographed the ticket stub.  I cannot for the life of me remember who...obviously not too important to me. LOL

I wanted to share this as a jumping off point for your creativity.  You can use canvas and your scrapbooking tools and supplies to make a wonderful and memorable work of art.   

I will for sure post pictures and projects from the retreat.  I am sure that I will have some hilarious stories on myself as well.  Until next time...be safe and create.

 

Robot Love

Hello Friends!  I ran across these pictures today and decided that I needed to share them with you.  Some of you may have already seen them, but I am sure you won't mind looking again...will you?

This adorable little robot was cut from the Robotz Cricut Cartridge.  I will have to say that the piecing together is not for the weak of heart.  Be prepared to think it through. And if possible leave the parts on your mat until you need them.  If not, you might just find yourself on your hands and knees trying to find them on the floor.  Just saying... 

These robots were Valentines for a 6 year old boy to take to school.  So what is better than robots I ask you.  I cut both robots at 3" more or less. Because I design with the gypsy, it doesn't work in exactly the same way as of you put the cartridge directly in your Cricut.  But, I wouldn't want to go without my Gypsy...no way, no how.  I love what it can do!!! And what I can do with it!!!  Tomorrow I am working on beach themed thank you notes for my daughter's employer.   For those of you in Stamp Club, see you tomorrow night!

Beach Canvas

Happy Saturday!  We had the most wonderful weather here in Oklahoma today.   And I had the best time at A Memory to Scrap.  Some of us girls were there working, joking and telling stories and well......trying not pee ourselves. You know how that is when you reach a certain age.  Any way I think we all stayed dry, I know I did so that's all that counts. :)

Here are the pictures of the Beach canvas that I promised last night.  I really was happy with the way it turned out.  

 

All the paper used was from Creative Imaginations Tidepools collection.  Except for the wood paper which I am not sure who makes that.  The flowers are from Prima.  I used burlap, sandpaper and shells from the dollar store.  I know dollar store shells....what is the fun in that.  Well, my son is the one that went to Cancun and since he was 13 years old, shell collecting did make it to his agenda.  Four wheelers, horseback riding, bowling and showgirls all were in the top 5.

Graduation...Yipee!

Hello there friends...as promised I have posted the picture of the Graduation canvas.  The handsome young man in the photo is my oldest son Brad.  He graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas on Mother's Day this year.  What a wonderful present for me! 

The class for this canvas is May 29, at 2:00 at A Memory to Scrap in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. If you hurry you can still sign up.  As I previously mentioned with a few minor substitutions you could easily transform this to a wedding or prom.


Tomorrow, I will bring you the next canvas for the June class.  It features Creative Imaginations Tidepools collection.

Before I go off to bed, I wanted to post this canvas that I made for one of my son's friends for graduation.  Thanks to John for his dedication to the game and his team and to his Mom for the photos.  I think he liked it. :) I used same paper from Teresa Collins Sports Edition, custom designed school paper, card stock, paint, felt and miscellaneous other things.

Bo Bunny Peacock Lane

Well, I am back and have vowed to post to my blog at least once per week.  Having said that, now I will have to work on a project per week that way.  To catch you up, I am now posting cards I designed for my August card class using Bo Bunny's Peacock Lane.

To My Friend

 Ok, I wish that I could remember what cartridge I used for this unfortunately I can't.  I can tell you that I welded it together on my gypsy.  The gypsy has the wonderful ability to duplicate, flip, rotate and weld.  Making it possible to make a card out of most images.

I used this card for a card swap at the CKC - Tulsa sponsored by Paper Crafts magazine in August 2010.  I can't believe that it is already time to register for the convention.  Once again, showing my age....anyway the card swap was a lot of fun.  I am not sure if they are having one again this year or not.  If so I plan to attend, of course I will wait until the night before to finish my cards as usual.

I really like how this card operates. It swings open with a brad.  I also cut this out with my Cricut Expression using my gypsy.  I won't swear to it but I think that the cartridge was Accent Essentials.  However, any flower image would work. 


 I do have some more cards to post, but I am now teaching layouts and canvases at A Memory to Scrap in Broken Arrow, OK.  My next class is May 29 at 2:00 pm.  We will be making a 12 x 12 canvas with a graduation theme.  But it is versatile enough that with a few alterations it can be used for a wedding. I will try to post picture on Friday.  Until we meet again.....Be safe and create!!!
